Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for details.
A high-ranking representative said the incident rendered him without words and required to be solved rapidly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
